Choosing To Live A Healthier Life

I have always been someone who really loves to get out there and enjoy time with other people, which is why I started becoming more and more involved in outdoor activities. Unfortunately, a few months ago I was left with a debilitating injury that I knew I had to resolve, and so I met with my medical care provider. He told me that I had been living with a stress fracture, and I knew that I had to have surgery to get it fixed. During my recovery, I decided to create a blog all about health and medical topics to help other people just like me. Check it out.

How To Know If Your Loved One Needs In-Home Care

If you have a loved one that is getting on in years, you may find yourself wondering if they are all right living at home on their own. However, because your loved one is their own person and is independent, you cannot just tell them what to do with their life. However, you can learn some of the signs that your loved one needs in-home care. Then, if you do see many of those signs with your loved one, you can speak to this person and encourage them to get the in-home help they need.

Your Loved One's Home Is Always Cluttered or Dirty

One of the signs that your loved one is in need of help around the house is that they are having trouble keeping their house in order. An unclean house is not only unpleasant, but it can also be a health hazard for your loved one and the guests that enter their home.

Keep an eye on your loved one's housekeeping. If things are steadily declining in your loved one's home, it may be because they are not able to keep up with the physical demands of housekeeping.

Your Loved One Seems to Be Increasingly Forgetful

In order to be safe living at home on their own, your loved one needs to be both physically and mentally capable of doing so. If your loved one is showing signs of forgetfulness, you may be worried about their safety on a day-to-day basis.

There is a difference between forgetfulness that is normal with age and forgetfulness that is dangerous to your loved one living at home. The latter is forgetfulness that interferes with a person to live their daily life. If your loved one cannot remember what day of the week it is, it is not always a big deal, but if they cannot remember to take their medications every day, their health could be at risk.

Your Loved One Experiences Falls at Home

If your loved one has begun experiencing falls at home, this is another sign that they may need in-home care. Frequent falls can lead to serious injuries and can be a sign that your loved one needs physical assistance moving about their home.

Look for signs of injuries in your loved one and listen to them if they tell you that they have fallen recently. The more your loved one has experiences like this, the more likely they are to suffer a serious injury like a bone fracture. In-home caregivers can assist with mobility and use devices that can keep your loved one from stumbling and falling.

Now that you know some of the signs that your loved one needs in-home care, you can be sure that you speak to them and encourage them to get home health care they need when they need it. For more information, talk to a company like Ameristaff Nursing Services.
