Choosing To Live A Healthier Life

I have always been someone who really loves to get out there and enjoy time with other people, which is why I started becoming more and more involved in outdoor activities. Unfortunately, a few months ago I was left with a debilitating injury that I knew I had to resolve, and so I met with my medical care provider. He told me that I had been living with a stress fracture, and I knew that I had to have surgery to get it fixed. During my recovery, I decided to create a blog all about health and medical topics to help other people just like me. Check it out.

Debunking 3 Myths About The Keto Diet

Losing weight is not meant to be easy. However, with proper understanding, planning, and patience, you can lose weight successfully. Today, more and more people are talking about the keto diet for not only weight loss, but to also increase energy, reduce inflammation, and to just feel better all around. Even though it is so popular, most people do not understand the keto diet very well. By learning the truth behind these common myths, you will understand the diet and learn if going keto is right for you.

The Keto Diet Is the Same as a Low-Carb Diet

One of the most common myths you may believe is that the keto diet is the same as a standard low-carb diet. While limiting your carbs is important, the keto diet is very different from other low-carb diets, such as the Atkins diet.

The Atkin's diet focuses on a low-carb lifestyle, so the majority of your diet should consist of meat, eggs, and cheese. With the Keto diet, you are supposed to eat very few carbs, but you should consume as much protein as possible. As a matter of fact, fat should take up the majority of your daily diet.

You Have to Stop Eating your Favorite Foods

Losing weight requires some sacrifices, but the keto diet allows you to still enjoy some of your favorite foods. While you will need to give up cookies, cakes, and French fries, you can continue enjoying bacon, avocado, cheese, and even sour cream.

As long as you are staying within your macro calculations, which is the percentage of fat, protein, and carbs you should eat in a day based on your body and lifestyle, enjoying some of your favorite foods is possible while losing weight.

The Keto Diet Is Dangerous

Another myth that many people believe is the keto diet is dangerous. Because it is so high in fat, it is easy to see why you may think the keto diet is dangerous to your health. However, when followed properly, it can actually improve your physical and emotional health.

Of course, it is important to remember you should consult your doctor before starting any new diet and exercise routine. After a detailed consultation, your doctor will determine if a high-fat, low-carb diet is right for your weight loss goals and your underlying health.

To get started on your weight loss journey, schedule a consultation to discuss the keto diet.
