Choosing To Live A Healthier Life

I have always been someone who really loves to get out there and enjoy time with other people, which is why I started becoming more and more involved in outdoor activities. Unfortunately, a few months ago I was left with a debilitating injury that I knew I had to resolve, and so I met with my medical care provider. He told me that I had been living with a stress fracture, and I knew that I had to have surgery to get it fixed. During my recovery, I decided to create a blog all about health and medical topics to help other people just like me. Check it out.

What Happens At A Med Spa Consultation?

Medical spas are becoming more common across the country. These businesses are halfway between a spa and a dermatologist's office. They are typically owned and staffed by medical doctors and nurse practitioners, but the treatments they offer are focused on aesthetics. From laser hair removal, to filler injections, to skin resurfacing treatments, med spas offer minimally invasive procedures intended to enhance your looks.

If you think that you may benefit from treatment at a med spa, your first step should be to schedule a consultation. Here's what will happen at the consultation.

Evaluation of Your Problem Areas

Generally, when your med spa consultation first begins, the practitioner will ask you what areas you want to focus on. You can name just one area, or several, depending on where your concerns truly lie. After hearing your response, the practitioner will take a look and offer their opinion.

For example, if you have been feeling self-conscious about the skin in your forehead, you can tell your practitioner about it. They may then look at your forehead, touch it, move the skin a little, and say something like "There are fine lines along your upper forehead and some deeper wrinkles between your eyes. Is that what you've been noticing?

Discussion of Options

Once you and the practitioner have narrowed down what your major concerns are, they'll give you your options for treatment. Usually, they will start with the least invasive, least expensive option, which is usually also the one that will yield the least dramatic results. They'll then work their way up to the more invasive, more expensive treatment options.

For instance, going back to the forehead wrinkle example, the practitioner may describe the details of botox, filler injections, and dermabrasion. They'll answer any questions you have about the procedures and help you decide which option is best for you.

Development of a Treatment Plan

Once you've talked through your options and chosen one, you and the practitioner will put together a treatment plan. You'll schedule the treatment and any follow-up appointments that might be needed. You'll also be given instructions for preparing for the procedure. For instance, if you decided on dermabrasion, your doctor may tell you to avoid sunshine and exfoliants for a week before treatment.

Having a consultation is a great way to ensure you arrive at the best possible treatment plan at a med spa. These spas generally take a very personalized, interactive approach, which makes patients feel quite comfortable
